The partnership between Louis Vuitton and NBA it's official The French Maison have also unveiled the official Travel Case for the NBA Champions

*** UPDATE ***: We already said it a few days ago and now it's official: Louis Vuitton and the National Basketball Association (NBA) have announced a multi-year collaboration, the first agreement with which Louis Vuitton join a North American sports league. The agreement provides for the creation of the first box for the Larry O'Brien Trophy, handmade in the historic Asnières laboratory close to Paris, covered with the iconic Monogram canvas and decorated with traditional brass finishes. In addition to the case containing the trophy dedicated to the team that will win the NBA championship next June, as part of the collaboration the Maison will create an annual limited edition capsule collection, the details of which will be announced soon.

As stated by Louis Vuitton President and CEO, Michael Burke:

"Louis Vuitton and NBA are icons and leaders in their sector, the union of the two promises memorable moments, which will create historical memories together. Louis Vuitton has long been associated with the most coveted trophies in the world, with this unique collaboration the tradition continues: victory really travels in Louis Vuitton!"

It's Fashion Week time in Paris, and then will be the moment of the NBA Paris Game, the match between Milwaukee Bucks and Charlotte Hornets scheduled in the French capital on 24th of January. In the midst of these two top events, the announcement of a partnership between Louis Vuitton and the National Basketball Association should arrive, as anticipated today by WWD. The agreement will be unveiled on January 22 during a private event to be held at Vuitton's flagship store in Avenue Montaigne.

It's not the first time that the French fashion brand has joined the sports universe, especially since Virgil Abloh's arrival behind the scenes: the artistic director of the French brand, a huge sports fan, is the great protagonist of the new imprint of the French brand already seen, for example, on the occasion of the 2018 World Cup thanks to the collaboration with Off-White. And it's also not the first time that a luxury brand approaches the sportswear scene: LV has already produced the trophy cases of the America's Cup, the FIFA World Cup, the Rugby World Cup, the Roland-Garros but also by the most prestigious event in the eSports universe, collaborating with the League of Legends videogame.
