From Leo Messi to Griezmann: the best looks seen yesterday in Paris

Best Dressed from Ballon d'Or 2019 award From Leo Messi to Griezmann: the best looks seen yesterday in Paris

Ballon d’Or ceremony is the real gala of world football, the moment when all the best players on the planet attend and pull out the best looks.
Set aside for a moment of football votes, a mention goes also to the outfits of the players. In the past, the ceremony gave fashion moments to forget, but this year the looks opted for ordinary elegance, in some cases topped with the right amount of extravagance that is always expected from a football player. Everything went smoothly on the Theater du Chatelet's red carpet, not surprisingly it was the first edition in which Neymar jr, Paul Pogba and Dani Alves - who in recent seasons had attracted attention with sunglasses, hair dyes, and magician hat - were not present. The former Ajax’s players, as well as the Barcelona footballers, Kylian Mbappé or the outgoing winner Luka Modric sported elegant clothes and sparkling watches, such as the Rolex and the gold Patek Philippe of André Onana and Dusan Tadić.

Onana will not have won the Yashin award for best goalkeeper of the season but certainly deserves the podium of the Best Dressed of this edition, as well as the Hollywood look of Antoine Griezmann, with hair like the Joker by Joaquin Phoenix, the diplomatic shirt unbuttoned and the shawl jacket. The same shirt model was also chosen by the host of the evening Didier Drogba, on the red carpet with a blue coat, before taking a selfie on the stage with Kylian Mbappé, without either tie or bow tie but very elegant with the bright on the collar of his shirt.

Runner-up Virgil van Dijk chose an oil-green velvet dress, with a blue collar and white shirt, while his team-mate Alisson received  the prize for best goalkeeper - given by Robert Lewandowski in a double-breasted suit - wearing a brilliant brooch and a black bow tie. The oversized earrings by Vinicius Jr have not gone unnoticed, as has the broken blue and black by Donny van de Beek, paired with velvet loafer. Class and elegance also off the pitch for Frenkie de Jong, as well as the best young man of 2019: Matthijs de Ligt.

The greatest footballer in the world and probably in the history of football gets on stage dressed in a black suit by Emporio Armani, pushing back the times of the red taffeta and polka dot suits. The inspiration remains only in the silver tie, which then, with gold, matched very well.
