It's time to talk about the Tammy Abraham moment

Dismantling and reassembling this Facebook post by Tammy Abraham, who was just 14 years old in November 2011, all the strength and personality of a predestined came out, and his future goals too. The striker of Nigerian descents shows himself with courage, determination and security - perhaps even sinning with cockiness, a classic among youngsters with a crystalline talent like him - typical of kids, suggesting that he already has clear ideas despite his age. The quote, however, beyond the simple and immediate impression, say something more. Between the lines, in the middle  of these few words, you can see the desire to emerge of a young player grown in South London, eager to explode and be noticed.

The story of the young striker of Frank Lampard's new Chelsea is not as complex as the classic stories of revenge and success, indeed. Tammy Abraham has always had the goal in the blood, a skill that he had already showed in the 2016/2017 season, during his first real experience far from London when he was able to cross the threshold of twenty goals in the Sky Bet Championship with the Bristol City jersey (23 the end of the season). The confirmation of his scoring attitude came in the third and last season played in the second division, in which he distinguished himself for the ruthlessness in the offensive area (25 goals in 37 games), useful to lead Aston Villa to the promotion in the Premier League, after beating Derby County trained by its current manager. That despite the embargo of the acquisition transfer market imposed on the Blues, found in the squad one of the best English talent in circulation, among the best products of the London club youth sector in recent years. Abraham immediately replied to his coach's appeal, the first to guarantee him the necessary confidence, without wasting time.

The season of Chelsea's new number 9, however, had not started in the best way: his penalty kick missed in the European Supercup final, in fact, had cost him and his new teammates the triumph, despite a brilliant performance against Liverpool. However, the forward did not become demoralized and, ascertaining that "it is not from these details that a player is judged", he immediately put the failed moment behind him and started to score repeatedly in the Premier League, making sure in a hurry to reserve a spot in the starting lineup instead of Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi, deserving the inclusion in the list of the most promising youngsters of the current Champions League edition: actually there are 10 goals in 12 games (including a hat-trick) in the most difficult football league in the world, plus another one in the European campaign.

Today some peculiarities of the character of the player born in 1997 are traceable not only on the pitch, but also in the contents published on his social accounts. Especially on Instagram, where Abraham has just reached 1 million followers and never saves a post where he smiles happily, or a celebration scene for a personal or team victory. And while the Chelsea striker looks always focused on his progress as a player and as a man, he has already become one of the most representative faces of the new English football wave. Already called up in the national team as well as his young teammates Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori, Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek (and waiting for Reece James and Callum Hudson-Odoi), despite the pressing advances by the Nigerian football federation, Abraham was chosen as a testimonial to present the new Chelsea Third Kit, and he was also invited to take part in the photo shoot for Nike's new anti-racism kit in collaboration with the Three Lions for Black History Month, together with other famous black football players of the Premier like Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford. From the Camberwell suburbs, Kevin Oghenetega Tamaraebi Bakumo-Abraham has now become the family friendly idol of Blues fans, one of the serious candidates for the title of top scorer of the current Premier League, but above all another ideal character to represent the new and brilliant melting pot generation of English football, that of Jadon Sancho, Dele Alli and Harry Kane. And as a result Nike has wasted no time in contracting it.

November 14, will be remembered for the day of his first goal with the Three Lions national team: taking over from Harry Kane during the Euro 2020 qualifying match between England and Montenegro, Abraham scored the 7-0 goal with a close tap-in - those of which he is becoming an infallible specialist - the first in a long series as publicly stated by former English football legend, Gary Lineker. A goal that could serve to strengthen his position in view of the next European Championships call-ups, where England will have with a very young team (against Montenegro the oldest of the team was 26) and with a truly spatial offensive package.
