Nike is the new Liverpool FC technical supplier Now it's officiale: the swoosh will replace New Balance starting from 1 July, 2020

***UPDATE***: the official statement from the English club has just arrived, from 1 July 2020 Nike will officially become the sponsor of Liverpool FC, and of course also of the female team, the Academy, the coaching staff and the LFC Foundation. As stated by Billy Hogan, LFC’s managing director and chief commercial officer:

"Our iconic kit is a key part of our history and identity. We welcome Nike into the LFC family as our new official kit supplier and expect them to be an incredible partner for the club, both at home and globally as we continue to expand our fanbase."

The rumors of a possible technical sponsor change were in the air for a long time now, it seems that today more than a confirmation arrives on the passage of FC Liverpool from New Balance to Nike.

According to the Telegraph,  the sponsorship deal is expected to exceed £ 750m paid in 10 years by adidas to Manchester United.

New Balance is in its last year of the contract for the Reds jerseys, and 45 million pounds are much lower than those earned by European top clubs, not only United but also Nike's 98 million at FC Barcelona and 107 to Real Madrid. If Klopp's club were to exceed the amount earned by the Manchester company, it would sign the highest deal ever reached by a Premier League club.

According to an ESPNFC report, the contract could be around 100 million pounds, with agreements to encourage the recruitment of top players to bring to Anfield. New Balance has a clause on the contract that allows it to match the offer proposed by another brand and see the sponsorship extended, but it is unlikely that the Boston label will be able to reach these numbers.

The arrival of Nike would be a novelty for Liverpool, which in its history has worn jersey sponsored by New Balance, Warrior Sports, adidas, Reebok and Umbro.
