The 2022 FIFA World Cup logo

The 2022 FIFA World Cup logo Inspired by the symbols of Arab culture

It is 20:22 in Doha and on the walls of some of the most important buildings in Qatar's capital the new logo of the 2022 FIFA World Cup is projected, the first in history to be played in winter.

The symbol of the event takes up and combines different elements of the Arab tradition, culture and territory. The first element to inspire the concept is the shawl with geometric and floral motifs, symbol of the European winter and worn around the world and in the Arab and Gulf region in particular by a variety of people and in various styles.

The sinuous shape then recalls the desert dunes and the silhouette of the FIFA trophy, but also the number 8, like the stadiums that will host the competition.

Finally, the World Cup logo is completed by the typeface "Qatar 2022", which re-elaborates Arabic calligraphy in a modern way.

After having inaugurated the first two stadiums, other 6 are under construction and ready to be completed by the end of 2022. These include the Lusail Stadium, which on November 21st will host the opening ceremony and on December 18 the final for the first and second place.
