Eight youngsters to watch at European Under-21 Championship

Despite the many absent ones, it will be an edition rich in pure talents

Eight youngsters to watch at European Under-21 Championship Despite the many absent ones, it will be an edition rich in pure talents

Twelve teams, two hundred and seventy-six players and lots of potential champions to watch: the European Under-21 Championship just started promises already a lot, given the number of young crack players called to participate in the Italian edition. On the list of those present, all born after the 1st of January 1996, there are, however, many absent ones, those who on theory could have been called-up but instead are elsewhere, as we expected: no Mbappé, Sancho, Donnarumma, Coman, Ndombele, Pavard, Havertz, Brandt, Asensio, Dolberg, Koke, Werner, Alexander-Arnold, Sanè and Rashford, but don't worry. Instead, let us focus on those who will play, hoping to get far (for eight teams the European will last only three games): we have selected eight no mainstream players which, for various reasons, we will observe with particular attention:

Robert Skov

year of birth: 1996
position: right winger
nationality: Danish
club: Copenhagen
value: 13 mln

No longer so young, he's the leading man of FC Copenhagen and soon he will also become the market man, since after having rewritten the Danish championship records scoring 29 goals in a single season he could soon land in a more competitive league. And he's not a penalty area forward, but plays far from the goal, mainly on the right position. His skills include knowing how to kick free-kicks.

Lukas Klostermann

year of birth: 1996
ruolo: right-back
nationality: German
club: Red Bull Leipzig
value: 30 mln

Because of the very low average age of its squad, RB Leipzig is one of the clubs that has provided the most players for the competition: among these is one of the young veterans, in the team for five years, who is already permanently in the senior national team and that this season has confirmed to be one of the best right-backs of the Bundesliga.

Szymon Zurkowski

year of birth: 1997
ruolo: midfielder
nationality: Polish
club: Fiorentina
value: 4 mln

The umpteenth Polish that we will soon see at work in Serie A is this central midfielder that Fiorentina has already bought in January, before having decided to leave him for another six months at his former club, Gornik Zabrze. In his country they speak very well about him, and he didn't waste time to show off his skills in the current European Championship, immediately making his mark in the opening match against Belgium.

Dodi Lukebakio

year of birth: 1997
ruolo: right winger
nationality: Belgian
club: Watford
value: 18 mln

Let's face it, the new Belgian generation has nothing to do with the one that just managed to reach the World Cup semi-finals, but we find some interesting young people anyway. One out of all, this offensive midfielder that loves dribbling and that Watford has already bought in January 2018 and left to grow up on loan: besides having contributed to the recent safe of Fortuna Dusseldorf, the winger of Congolese origin also scored a hat-trick at the Allianz Arena against Bayern.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

year of birth: 1997
ruolo: right-back
nationality: English
club: Crystal Palace
value: 35 mln

If we told you that Manchester United has already offered to Crystal Palace £ 50m to buy him, do you believe it? The English right-back English is in fact one of the authentic revelations of the last Premier League, having played 35 games as a starter despite was semi-unknown. Now it's time to shine at the European Under-21 Championship, before to go in a top club.

Dani Olmo

year of birth: 1998
position: offensive midfielder
nationality: Spanish
club: Dinamo Zagreb
value: 15 mln

What a strange story that of the Catalan, who after a short period in the Barça youth academy in 2014 moved to Dinamo Zagreb. In Croatia he won everything, he played the Europa League and won the MVP and best youngster of the league awards. We want to be bet on him: he did not play at the debut against Italy but could find his time in the upcoming matches of the Rojita.

Matteo Guendouzi

year of birth: 1999
position: midfielder
nationality: francese
club: Arsenal
value: 35 milioni

Impossible not to have already noticed this midfielder with long curly hair coming from an excellent first season in England with the Arsenal shirt, the team that caught him in the French second division and who immediately launched it. In the French team, which in the midfield already has two huge talents as Aouar and Tousart, he will add his value capable of complete the trio with quantity and quality.

Dejan Joveljic

year of birth: 1999
position: striker
nationality: Serbian
club: Eintracht Frankfurt
value: 4 mln

After have sold Luka Jovic to Real Madrid, Eintracht Frankfurt immediately replaced him with the signing of the 2.0 version of the Serbian, a striker with similar name and similar characteristics that comes from the flourishing Red Star academy. A bargain in perspective, but still very interesting on theory: this is why we are very curious to watch him at work (if there will be an opportunity) at Euro 2019.

Bonus

Alessandro Bastoni

year of birth: 1999
position: difensore centrale
nationality: italiana
club: Inter
value: 15 milioni

Could we not include any players from the Italian team? The Di Biagio's squad is really good, so we bet on a player who shouldn't even start as a starter: Atalanta academy, a great season with Parma and a future at Inter (?) for this centre-back that could find space in the middle of the defense, the package that convinces less of the Italian lineup.
