The top 6 Ajax's away kits

The top 6 Ajax's away kits In addition to the traditional white and red jersey, the Dutch wore almost everything

What has not been said about Ajax in its long history full of trophies and champions? The Joden's charm and heritage are infinite, and to increase it further we think about the jerseys that the Dutch have worn in 119 years of history. Not only the classic white uniform with the large vertical red band, introduced in 1911 when the Lancers were promoted for the first time in Eredivisie and had to change their uniform (originally black and red) due to the presence of Sparta Rotterdam: the Amsterdam team dressed of all colors and with all the fantasies. Striped, with the triple X symbol of the Dutch capital, with geometric patterns or camouflage: the Ajax away shirt is traditionally special and different, unlike the home jersey that has always been the same. We have collected only six of them, but we assure you that there are more masterpieces and certainly they will continue to exist.

#1 Away, 1983/1985

One among the best Ajax's light blue jerseys of its history is this one of the 1983-1985 seasons with transparent stripes and a perfectly fit darker blue V collar. All was completed by the Ajax's old crest, the main sponsor TDK, the elegant rooster of the French brand Le Coq Sportif and by the players who wore this shirt, included Johan Cruyff. A curiosity: the light blue jersey has been then used in a very similar version in the 2002/2003 season: it was the Ajax of, among the others, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Andy Van der Meyde.

#2 Away, 1989/1990

Typically 90s vibes the Ajax's away jersey of the 1989/1990 season, unlucky for winnings but remembered for the De Boer twins' exploit and Dennis Bergkamp at the beginning of his brilliant career. The jersey follows the colours blue, white and red. The background is blue, cut by very slim white stripes before the interruption dictated by the geometrical motif that marks with white and red the jersey on the front, on the back and on the sleeves, leaving occasionally some blue spaces of the background, composing the crazy motif of the jersey. The main sponsor TDK, red on a white block, almost clashes with this pattern proposed by Umbro.

#3 Away, 1993/1994

Elegant and vintage the design offered by Umbro for the Ajax's away jersey of the '93/'94 season. This shirt is remembered especially for the blue stripes pattern, unusual for Ajax: the atypical and vibrant green, yellow and blue colours; the open collar with black fastening, so retro as actual, still used today for the remakes of some nostalgic jerseys. A few years ago, in fact, Patta decided to make it again.

#4 Away, 1994/1995

The jersey which with Ajax raised their last Champions League is this thing of beauty dyed night blue and maroon, a fantastic mix that matches colours with the white on the collar and on the dominant pattern on the front. On the centre of the chest, obviously, the Lancers' crest. A jersey simply became legend. And even this one is signed Umbro, that connects indissolubly its name with that of Ajax for eleven seasons.

#5 Away, 2004/2005

We re-see the stripes on the away jersey of the 2004/2005 season. This time was made by adidas, and Van Der Vaart & Co. showed up this yellow shirt with three golden stripes when they played far from the old Amsterdam ArenA. Insets were black and the final result is an appropriate shirt for the Ajax's away jerseys tradition. Super.

#6 Away, 2016/2017

The last jersey we have select is from a recent season, unforgotten for its blue and light blue camouflage pattern, adidas signed. The collar is circular with a triangle made of texture under it while the German brand's three stripes are red. The stylized crest, the sponsor and the adidas logo are white.
