The Spanish Segunda División will be broadcast on YouTube 11 matches every week, broadcasted in 155 country worldwide

It is a historical deal between La Liga and YouTube: with immediate effect (starting from the today's game between Cadiz and Granada) all the eleven matches of the Second Division gameweek will be broadcast, plus a 50-minute highlights show also provided on the video-sharing platform.

The matches will be streamed by the official league account in Africa, Asia, Europe, and America, covering 155 countries worldwide. In Spain, however, matches will continue to be shown through current rights holders: beIN Connect, Orange, Telecable, Telefónica, and SkyThe commentaries will be in English, demonstrating how the project starts from the goal to internationalize the Spanish football, allowing a wider range of fans to follow their teams, as well as attract a new range of new generation of online broadcasters, as explained by Melcior Soler, the director of the La Liga audiovisual department. It is not the first initiative aimed at exporting the product to the best: a few months ago, for example, just before the World Cup, a collaboration was born with Saudi Arabia focused on the promotion of Spanish football outside the local borders. In Segunda División actually play club with an important past in La Liga, with a large following of supporters, such as Deportivo La Coruna, Malaga, Las Palmas, Osasuna, Sporting Dijon and Zaragoza, which can also have prestigious and modern stadiums.

Considering only the commercial strategy it's clear how La Liga is continuing to exploit its full potential, enhancing the spectacular nature of the matches and the tradition of the teams. Aiming on the second division involving so many 'little' teams is a very clear and courageous plan, in the wake of the many recent choices that have made Spanish football increasingly captivating, beyond the duality Barcelona-Real and leading clubs.
