Five football matches to watch this weekend

FIFA Club World Cup, Turin's derby and the Brian Clough Trophy up for grabs

Five football matches to watch this weekend FIFA Club World Cup, Turin's derby and the Brian Clough Trophy up for grabs

It's not the most juicy weekend of 2018 as a football schedule, but we are not discouraged at all: we still prefer to spend the weekend at home instead of being around crowded shops to choose Christmas gifts. What can you do, we are like that! Ps: make sure you have a DAZN subscription, or ask to your friends for the credentials.

Kashima Antlers - Chivas Guadalajara

when: Saturday 15/12 at 2pm

where: Hazza bin Zayed Stadium / the best streaming that you will find online

We start from Saturday afternoon, lunchtime for some of you from Mediterranean habits: there are the quarter finals of the FIFA Club World Cup between the Asian and the American champions, Japanese against Mexican. The truth is that there are no budding champions to follow carefully nor even old glories of the past, but we will take a look at it anyway. They play in the United Arab Emirates and the winner will meet Real Madrid in the semifinals.

Torino - Juventus

when: Saturday 15/12 at 8:30pm

where: Turin's Olimpico / DAZN

Granata against Bianconeri, the first derby of the year is scheduled on Saturday night at the Mazzarri's guys stadium. Two good reasons to watch the game? Testing the Juventus' form because they has unexpectedly lost to Berne in the Champions League last game and especially hoping for a half pass of the leaders, who stay at the top of the Serie A with 8 points ahead of Napoli. Also this time, in fact, the opponents of Juventus will be particularly interested in the match, we are sure.

Liverpool - Manchester United

when: Sunday 16/12 at 5pm

where: Anfield / Sky Sport

Liverpool will appear at Anfield in with the best conditions: as Premier League leaders and back from the huge win against Napoli that guarantee them a place in the knockout stages of the Champions League, with a final thrill. The situation for United is different: in Europe has arrived another k.o., and the gap in the championship is considerable, 16 points less. But it's still the North-West derby and it will be absolutely a game not to be missed.

Olympique Lyonnais - AS Monaco

when: Sunday 16/12 at 9pm

where: Stade des Lumières / DAZN

Despite the chaos that has been caused by the gilet jaunes in the last few days, the game should be regularly played: the hosts, returning from the away match in Ukraine, are fourth in the standings and look for points to stay in the European zone; the Monegasque, instead, are living a desperate situation: penultimate in the relegation zone. Good youngsters on one side (Fekir, Ndombele, Aouar above all) and Titì Henry on the bench on the other.

Derby County - Nottingham Forest

when: Monday 17/12 at 8:45pm

where: Pride Park / DAZN

It is not a classic from the Liverpool-United breath but it's still a very historic game, known as the East Midlands derby or even as the match that assigns the Brian Clough Trophy, in honor of the great manager who coached both teams. Now both are in the Championship, but on the upper floors, and are among the candidates for the promotion in the Premier League. A unique opportunity for Frank Lampard fans, as he is now the Derby coach.
