There's something in Andrea Pirlo that has always impressed me when he was still on the pitch. How calm he was.
And not like chilled or calm, it seems more an expression of dominion: in a field with 21 players, he always seemed to know where the ball was going to go before anyone else, how the teammates and the opponents would have moved. It's something that has always striked me, and when we sat down in front of each other in the new Milan Nike Store - the biggest in Italy - the feeling was more or less the same. Despite the fans, the journalists and the staff at the inauguration, the Master was dominating the room, silencing the noise around us and answering our questions.

Who's writing was 14 years old when the Italian football team won the FIFA World Cup in Berlin and Pirlo - along with Cannavaro - represented a winning team and a champion. His football personality and position within the football world have changed alongside his image: his philosophic hair and the wise beard during the years at Juventus made him earn the reputation of Great Master of Italian soccer.
Inside the new store, Pirlo entered a mini Tech Pack lab and designed a customized jacket. His special relationship with Nike was celebrated by the Swoosh with a limited edition Tiempo, which will be displayed in the new Nike Store in Duomo where we shot this interview.
