Here's the new Manchester United 2018/19 home jersey Red mixed with (too much) black in the new Man United's shirt, inspired to the old one from 140 years ago

It was one of the most awaited jerseys of the summer, which adidas delayed to announce after having already unveiled the third one, two months ago. We are talking about Manchester United's new home shirt, which Paul Pogba and his teammates (Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, David De Gea, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic) are wearing now that the World Cup is over. A jersey that at first sight is surprising both for its remarkable, perhaps excessive black presence. This is due to the inspiration for the club's "railway" origins, which originated 140 years ago and was originally called Newton Heath (Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway) Cricket and Football Club.

The confirmation comes from Inigo Turner, design director of adidas football, who through the official club channels he commented: "The new shirt for Manchester United mixes the heritage and history of the club’s illustrious past, with modern technology and design innovation from adidas.

When designing the kit, we wanted to tell the story of the first incarnation of the United kit, 140 years ago. Originally, the team wore dark shorts, and we’ve reinterpreted this story in a bold and contemporary way."

The traditional red jersey, in fact, in the lower part, begins to fade with black horizontal stripes to 'merge' with the shorts, blacks too. The three stripes of adidas on the shoulders are also black, the inside of the V-collar (well knows as adidas EQT) and the same gradation is also present in the socks, while the logo of the German brand is white like the sponsors, the US cars company Chevrolet on the chest and another American company, Kohler, on the left sleeve. For the rest, the shirt is clean, there are no badge or celebrations words of any kind.

The shirt will be worn during the American tour that will start in the next days and is available, initially for a period of only seven days, from adidas.com, United direct and in the official club stores.
