From time to time, all football enthusiasts happen to complain about the lack of competitiveness of some championships - did someone say Bundesliga? - that are more or less decided weeks before the end of the season. This year, though, the German fans can’t really complain, as if in the first division Bayern Munich’s hegemony is not discussed, in the 2. Bundesliga everything’s happening and fourteen of the eighteen teams can still get relegated.

Between Arminia Bielefeld, fifth with 44 points, and St. Pauli, third last with 37, there are just 7 points, leaving the relegation run as open as it possibly can. Just to give you a hint of the competitiveness of the league, Darmstadt, that is currently second to last, could still end up with the seventh place, while Ingolstadt, that is seventh with 42 points, could both end up with the third place or the seventeenth and then get relegated. So long, boring championships.
