Gigi Datome will be a Simpsons character

UPDATE: on his Instagram profile, Gigi confirmed that the dream to become a Simpson will still be a dream! You broke our hearts, Gigi!

Ciao a tutti! Cavolo che delirio che si è creato per una mia foto in modalità Simpson! Ho scritto che è un sogno essere in una puntata dei Simpson ed effettivamente rimarrà un sogno! Il post di ieri è come vi ho detto un disegno di Rino Russo, e (purtroppo) non ha nulla a che vedere con i Simpsons veri! Grazie come al solito a tutti per l’affetto che mi avete dimostrato ma anche per la fiducia che avete in me! Hello everybody! Wow, yesterday’s post created a lot of interest! The first Italian player to figure among the characters of the Simpsons will be Gigi Datome: the Sardinian basketball player announced it with a post appeared on his Instagram profile. The captain of Italy will figure in an episode about European basketball, even if for the moment no further details are known. Certainly, there is also an image of Datome circulated with the jersey of his club, Fenerbahçe Doğuş, while trying one of his shots.

Datome is certainly not the first sportsman to appear in the famous series of American cartoons: let's remember Ronaldo and Messi among the players; Agassi, Sampras and Williams sisters among tennis players; Kobe Bryant, Dennis Rodman, and Magic Johnson among the basketball ones; but also Oscar de la Hoya and Tony Hawk.

Although without appearing in the top 5 of the 3 points shooters, the 30-year-old grew up in Olbia is confirming a leader for his team, where this year also figure another Italian player, Nicolò Melli: Fenerbahçe is currently at the top of the Turkish championship, while in Euroleague it is behind only CSKA Moscow and already mathematically qualified for the second stage.
