American style II - 4 jerseys from the MLS 2018 The second episode of the journey in the MLS's shirts

On March 3, Toronto FC and Columbus Crew will open the 2018 season of the American Major League Soccer. 2018 will be the year zero of American soccer: after the resounding elimination from the World Cup and the consequent loss of money, the football movement must rise once again. The league seems to be on the right track: two new franchises - including David Beckham's one - will become part of the MLS, and many teams trying to grow talent at home and avoid importing elephants at the end of their career from Europe. If at a technical-tactical level the league is still far behind, certainly not from an aesthetic point of view: already in the first episode of this column we have started to present the new sweaters that will be protagonist this season, today we will discover four more. The jerseys of all MLS franchises are signed by adidas as the League has signed a collective agreement with an estimated value of 700 million dollars, spread over six years.

LA Galaxy - Home

From this season on, the Galaxy will no longer be alone in Los Angeles. In fact, Los Angeles Fc will debut in the league aiming to become the most popular team in the city having its own stadium in the heart of the metropolitan area. For this reason the Galaxy have definitely bet on the classic for the 2018 shirt, respecting the colors and style of the franchise. To start off the town, they focused the presentation of the new uniform around their twenty-year presence in MLS: "Unrivaled since '96".

New York City FC - Away

With local New York fans in mind, the design inspiration for the new 2018 kit came from the City of New York, the concrete jungle, resulting in a kit that is predominantly gray in color with City blue accents. It is definetly the most wearable off the pitch shirt, thanks to the elegant and sober colorway.

Seattle Sounders - Home

Nonetheless Seattle is the most european city of the US, the jersey for the Sounders is very american. The brush-stroke print across the entire front body is where it's at this season, and it's a credit to adidas who manage to make each MLS jersey bespoke to each MLS club. For Seattle, who retain the clean sponsorship of XBOX in all white, the kit is instantly identifiable as one of MLS' powerhouses.

Philadelphia Union - Home

The Union have whipped up a beautifully executed dark blue shirt with faded horizontal stripes, classy gold numbers and matching gold trim. The centre gold panel has been removed for the very first time to create a fresh sense of identity for the club; two shades of navy in a subtle hoop formation bring the aesthetic game up to scratch. the only real issue with this jersey is the BIMBO sponsor in the middle of the shirt, that reduces the aggressivness and cool attitude of the jersey.
