Under Armour unveils HOVR A new technology for runners

Under Armor presented two new running shoes, the HOVR Phantom and HOVR Sonic. The peculiarity of the two shoes is the new HOVR shock-absorbing platform designed to guarantee the perfect combination of cushioning and reactivity. The HOVR midsole is made with a patented foam in collaboration with Dow Chemical, a leader in innovation, which guarantees an effect of great softness and cushioning to every stride.

HOVR, Under Armour’s third cushioning system (Micro G was the first, Charged Cushioning was the second), has a unique technology called the Energy Web; it is a comprehensive mesh web that contains the cushioning core in order to maintain the midsole’s shape. According to Under Armour, it improves responsiveness, energy return, and impact protection.

The HOVR cushioning platform will debut in two new footwear models: the HOVR Sonic and the HOVR Phantom. They’ll be available for purchase on February 1, 2018.
