adidas unveiled its first digitally created football boot The AM4MN, produced in the SpeedFactory facility in Ansbach, will debut on Sunday for the Super Bowl

A while ago, adidas announced to the world the opening of its first SpeedFactory facility, in Ansbach, Germany, capable of producing sports boots three times faster than a regular factory. Now, adidas has presented its first American football cleat produced by the SpeedFactory, introducing this kind of product in the contact sports, making us wondering about the possibility to see this kind of boots in football in the next future.

The German brand has just presented Made For Minnesota (AM4MN), a boot that will debut in the very Super Bowl that will be played on Sunday. The Three Stripes initially started with the running business, but the arrival to the NFL seems to prove that the shoes produced in the revolutionary factory are ready to face a tougher sport. adidas seems willing to aim heavily on this kind of production - that it defined “the future of manufacturing and customization” - and is programming the opening of the second factory in Atlanta. Even if there’s no official news about the German brand’s will to land in the football business, the step seems inevitable, as the AM4MN looks quite like the X silo that we see on the pitch every weekend.

The SpeedFactory production, that can realize a boot three times faster than the regular one, is digitally driven by a series of data, that allows the creation of a boot entirely based on the desired fit. adidas’ designers utilize athletes’ foot scans, other than the ARAMIS technology used by NASA to understand with maximum precision which kind of pressure the players carry out during their movements. This allows them to insert a series of patches, strategically placed on the Primeknit upper to exploit movement, improving stability and support.

Sunday Super Bowl will be a nice test for adidas and particularly for the AM4MN, as it will be the first time a boot like this is used in such an important event. Of course, adidas wouldn’t move without the certainty to be a success and it’s logical to think that they will land in football in the next future.
