Come on, guys, we have to deal with it and move on. Even if hearing the ‘World Cup’ words make our hearts suffer like hell, we can’t ignore the fact that in June a World Cup will be played. And that Italy won’t be there. Ok, yes, it still hurts. FIFA, though, didn’t mind about our feelings (legitimately) and presented - few days ahead of the group stage draft - the official poster for the 2018 World Cup.

From 1930, every Mundial had its own official poster, and also this one, that more of any other is characterized by the dominance of digital communication, has its own. It has been drawn by Russian artist Igor Gurevich and represents one of the football icons of the Soviet land, the Ballon d’Or winning goalkeeper Lev Yashin. As always, the poster represents the World Cup with the ideological and cultural point of view of the hosting country, becoming a cult item and a memorabilia for people from all over the world.

As said, the protagonist of this poster is Lev Yashin, the legendary icon of Russian football, that played four World Cup (1958, 1962, 1966 and 1970), being the only goalkeeper to be awarded the Ballon d’Or. As you can see, Yashin is dressed with the typical garments of the Sixties, with shorts, jersey and the iconic hat. Is leaning towards a sphere, that is half a football, half the Soviet country’s silhouette seen from space, another dear topic for the Russians. What do you think, do we send a copy to Giampiero Ventura?
