Le Coq Sportif x Neal Heard: A Lover's Guide to St-Éitenne Inspired by one of the most iconic jersey of all time: the 1981-82 Saint-Étienne's Super Télé

Le Coq Sportif released a FW2017 capsule collection designed by the British football collector Neal Heard, one of the gurus of the crossover between the streetwear and football fashion and author of Lover's Guide to Football Shirts.

For the whole collection Heard took inspiration from one of his favorite jersey ever as he explained in our interview one year ago: the Super Télé, worn by Saint-Étienne in the 1981-82 season.

The 1981 St Etinenne Jersey is the one in my top 5 (the pin stripe hoops with Super Tele Sponsor). This jersey makes it as, number one, I think it’s just beautiful design. Green is rare and the pinstripes and even the sponsors logo just work for me. I love LCS jerseys, and the logos great, but also it kinda captured the romance of football for me at the time, especially European football, Jonny Rep and Platini, even the name of the team, mystique dripped from the shirt for me.

The resulting capsule collection - which includes two windbreakers, two t-shirts – was designed and manufactured in Le Coq Sportif’s facility in Romilly, France, using an original vintage Super Télé jersey for reference. The bold chest logo and paired stripes have been translated into a strong set of windbreakers, short-sleeve crewnecks and quarter-zip sweatshirts with a color palette of grey, navy and the signature green of the original jersey. The vintage styling is brought right up to date with modern cuts and detailing, resulting in a capsule collection that perfectly pairs Casual with contemporary.

You can pick up the collection from various stores including Hanon.
