Nike Football kits for the Pumas

Mash-ups in design are always funny and interesting style exercises. A demonstration? The new Nike kits for Pumas. For the Mexican club uniform, Nike has managed to find a virtuous mix that combines the two Universidad Nacional Club's historic traditions: football & football.

We can already notice in details how the blue stripes on sleeves wrapped in thin golden lines sink the roots in the classic American football's aesthetics. The tribute to UNAM (the most important university in Mexico) is visible inside the collar, with the blue UM logo on white background. Other details, such as sponsor logos, are blue and gold, respecting the social colors of the club. However, the real protagonist is the stylized puma in the center of the jersey, which dominates the entire uniform and assumes aesthetic and iconic value.

The two home and away jerseys differ only in the inversion of colors, where blue becomes dominant with golden finishes. With these kits, Nike proves to dare and to know how to do it. Who knows if we will see as many risky choices for European clubs as well.
