Durant to celebrate his tenth anniversary with Nike A new version of his signature shoe, the KD10 Anniversary, is ready to be released

Ok, yes, he has been the most discussed over the summer, after his move to the Golden State Warriors everything was told about him, but it probably was the best decision possible for his career. Supernatural talent and we know that since before he came from Texas University, and yet, many people wasn’t betting on him when he arrived in the NBA. In fact, when he arrived at the pre-Draft routine many teams gave up on him because of his struggles in the lifting room. Luckily, the Seattle SuperSonics drafted him with the second pick for his skills with the basketball and not for his strength.

Ten years ago, this same month, Nike conquered that skinny boy that was Kevin Durant and short after produced his first signature shoe. Now, KD himself celebrates the release of the new KD10, which he will wear in the Western Conference Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. Shoe designer is Leo Chang, who chose to maintain some features of the old ones, like the seam style and the Zoom cushion, while the Swoosh is multicolor - one for every Durant’s team since college - and placed on both sides. Durant himself asked to maintain the Flyknit technology - a mixture of adaptability and resistance for a 'sock-effect' fit - straight from the KD9. “I tried a pair of Flyknit Racer during the 2012 London Olympics and I loved it. So I’ve been asking for Flyknit in my shoe and the KD10 is my best shoe yet”.

It’s a real deal for KD35, that identifies the Flyknit as one of the two biggest techs applied in these 10 years with Nike. “The KD6 was a big turning point, I’ve always trusted Leo and Nike to make a low shoe that I can wear on the court. Now with the KD10, we combine a low cut with my favorite upper material”. The lacing system has also been designed specifically for Warriors’ superstar, which found it perfect for his fit and style of play. “It is one element Leo and I talked about, to have Flyknit and a unique lacing pattern was key for us”.

Available May 26, the KD10 Anniversary colorway is faint blue, while the KD10 Still KD (in white) drops June 1.
