Umbro x OFF-WHITE Coach sneaker is finally out
Virgil Abloh re-design one of the most iconic sneaker from the British brand, pivotal in the terrace culture
More than once we ended talking about Umbro, and the many ways the brand influenced the history of football apparel. Undisputed king of the 90s branding, when it used to wear half of the Premier League team and some of the most prestigious European clubs (like Ajax and Internazionale Milan).
But not only. The British company was in fact also a leader in the football boots sector and, above all, spread among the football supporters, until becoming (together with adidas) one of the columns of terrace culture. A culture that always preach a standard stadium kit: blue jeans and white shoes. For years, that shoes were one of Umbro most iconic models: the Coach. A simple silhouette, with an aesthetic that is clearly 90s and that made Umbro fortunes for decades.
Now that football is more and more into the fashion game and that Umbro is focusing on the lifestyle sector, it’s time to start talking again about Coach. To be honest that moment came some month ago, when Umbro and OFF-WHITE announced their collaboration showing some pictures of a new version – made by Virgil Abloh – of the Coach.
That sneaker is now finally out, after and editorial by UNKNWN, that contextually putted on sale (140$) the sneaker. The style is unmuted, and the sneaker is totally white, with some leather particulars and the logos fro both brand.
