Football and social network: "Romanzo Calcistico"

The beautiful game told through literature

Football and social network: Romanzo Calcistico The beautiful game told through literature

What’s a novel? Is it the story or the way we tell that story? “New way to write novel is to not do the novel”, Jules Renard said. And he suggested the novel amorphous’ nature, so changing and almost unmanageable, that kind of literature expression everyone has artistic wishes try to face. But so, what’s the novel? Probably it is not the story and it is not the way to tell the story too. It’s a link, a threesome link, between the novel object, the one who has to tell the story and the one who decides to read the story. Form that link all the deep and strong feelings grow up.

Sport is that kind of world where mad feelings are placed, love and hate with no boundaries. It is an absurd theater but neorealist cinema as well.

Gigi from “Romanzo Calcistico” thought, a good day, the importance to talk about romantic football, using the novel (in latin languages the words has the same root: Romanzo, Romantic). Biographies, quotes, everything linked to his point of view.

We introduced novel’s nature talking about this amorphs nature, you often use quotes and dialogues as well, between actual or past characters. It is so linked to some kind of literary tradition, the biographies writings or the great journalistic interviews. Why do you prefer that kind of formula? We are great supporters of that kind of communication that uses quotes.

The pace was born to talk about football in a different way, more romantic, also funny or a bit gloomy. We are living in a world that just talks about managers, money and scandals. I am aware soccer’s world is not completely good, but I like to underline those great acts or romantic and touching quotes. Or talking about funny moments, writing by myself as well, because it has to be the soccer message.

It is like a mission! It seems as you don’t want some things come to be forgotten. You are like preacher, don’t you?

Preacher, not bad. Lol! Through jokes, I think remembering greatest champions or the best challenge, characters or age is the best way to talk about sport. For the sport lovers at least.

Past is fundamental for you, after all every story needs two basic things: past and fantasy. What’s for you the past? Nostalgia, a kind of landmark?

Past is something we need to remember. It “has to be” remembered, for that we can do. In every place, not just football.

Stay for a while on past concept, who did make the FB page picture? That wonderful past leather soccer ball transforming in a book?

Me and a friend of mine, who doesn’t work on the page, but he helped me to create the picture because he is very good to.

How do you pick the story? You talk not just about sport’s men, but even about common people, football lovers, people who live it daily.

I chose before the story, looking at the calendar, birthdays or special days. Often I also talk about something I read, or watch… Those ones are the best, just inspiring. When I write stuff by myself I need time, but it is so satisfying, because people understand it is something written by Romanzo Calcistico, something full of feeling and passion.

Could you built a romantic and novelist team for us? Something between your loved players and greatest football characters.

It’s hard, I love a lot of players from the past. I am going to thing just to players I lived, not the past ones. I try: Campos, Cafù, Maldini, Nesta, Baresi, Iniesta, Pirlo, Rui Costa, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo (Luis Nazario), Roberto Baggio. Do we have romanticism?

A novel quote for nss sports?

No Novel, just a wish: “Ad Maiora”!
