Between jerseys and sneakers, the All-Star game is full of good stuff

All-Style Game Between jerseys and sneakers, the All-Star game is full of good stuff

Every time that the NBA organizes an event, there are a massive amount of media and commercial aspects. And of course is no exception - actually, is the best demonstration - the All-Star Weekend, three days when the élite of US’ basketball gathers to make a show and… Sell.

Yes, it’s pointless to deny it. No matter how good can the Slam Dunk or Three-Point contests may be, alongside with the Sunday game of course, all that circus is built to let the league earns a lot of money, and of course for worldwide broadcasting. That means a lot of money, too. But we don’t want to complain because all this marketing also means to have many things to discuss every year. And on top of the list, there are always the same things: adidasAll-Star Game jerseys.

For Sunday’s game, the first without Kobe Bryant since his retirement last year, adidas chose different shades of grey for East and West jerseys, with white/red/blue inserts for LeBron James and his teammates, while Curry and partners will have the same red and blue, but with different tones of grey. The shorts take the jerseys’ coloration and they will feature the two conferences’ initials. For the second year, there will be a KIA Motors badge on the shirt, bringing forward to next year’s arrival of commercial badges on franchises’ jerseys.

Of course, adidas didn’t hold itself back with the jerseys, but it has created a whole kit, with tracksuits, a shirt with the “66th NBA All-Star Game” writing and the unavoidable sweatshirt will all the badges of each player’s earned trophies.

More, All-Star Game is also an occasion for brands to produce some kick-ass sneakers, like Jordan did for Russell Westbrook and all its other athletes. The same did Nike for Kevin Durant, LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, even if they’re actually going to wear the “Black History Month Collection” kicks. Adidas came up with the “All-Star” Harden Vol.1, sneakers realized for the Beard, which will be for sure one of the game’s protagonists.
