A Netflix docuseries about Kanye West is reportedly on the way With unpublished material collected in over 20 years

According to what has been reported by Billboard, Netflix would have bought a docuseries on Kanye West for 30 million dollars. With over 20 years of unreleased material, the series was created by director duo Clarence "Coodie" Simmons and Chike Ozah, already close to West for directing the video for Through the Wire and the third version of the video for Jesus Walks.

The relationship between Clarence Simmons and West will be at the heart of the series, telling the story of Kanye from his beginnings as a producer to his rise as a rapper and cultural icon. It will also feature the role of Donda West and the impact of her death on Kanye's career and personality, as well as his success in the fashion industry and last year's failed presidential campaign. Although Netflix didn't comment on the news, according to several sources the docuseries will be produced by TIME Studios, the production branch of TIME already behind the documentaries John Lewis: Good Trouble and Aretha Franklin's concert film, Amazing Grace

Kanye West, who will have no creative role in the production, however, would have given his support to the project, allowing Coodie and Chike to follow and film him for the last 21 years. The untitled docuseries will arrive on Netflix in the upcoming months.
