Maserati Debuts Its First Hybrid Car Maserati Ghibli Hybrid

Maserati is ready to debut its first (almost) electric car. The Modena-based automotive company, leader in the production of luxury sports cars, has unveiled the first electrified model in its history: it is a Ghibli, one of its most symbolic cars, that from 2013 to today has been sold in more than 100 thousand units. Looking for reducing consumption and embracing new sustainable technologies, Maserati Ghibli Hybrid "represents the first step in a path that will lead to the electrification of all new Maserati models," said Maserati at the launch. After the Ghibli, which will be available from September 2020, the first fully electric cars of the brand will be the new GranTurismo and GranCabrio, scheduled for 2021.

Maserati Ghibli Hybrid will be combined with the new 2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, equipped with 48-volt Mhev technology, capable of reducing fuel consumption and emissions, and will be able to reach a total power of 330 horsepower. The engine is derived from the 2.0 Multiair of the FCA group, in this case entirely revised by the Innovation Lab of Modena. Its hybrid technology, which Maserati has defined as the one with the highest specific power on the market, allows you to recover the energy produced during deceleration and braking, store it in a battery and use it to recharge the thermal engine in the starting phase.

In order to replace the diesel version by the end of the year, the new Ghibli comes with a renewed style, starting with the launch color Evolution Gray with details in anodized blue. In addition to the engine, the real news is inside: the Ghibli Hybrid will be equipped with Maserati Connect, "its brain of integrated circuits" directly connected to smartphones, smartwatches and other personal virtual assistants (such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assist): a user experience multimedia ecosystem, governed by a larger, high-resolution screen, which ensures that you are always connected. Finally, the new state-of-the-art multimedia system MIA (Maserati Intelligent Assistant) allows you to always stay connected with the car, even carrying out checks on the car and monitoring the Safety Security services in emergency conditions.

Maserati Ghibli Hybrid will be available from September 2020. Prices have not yet been communicated.
