After a few weeks of speculation, Sónar Barcelona has been officially postponed to June 17-18-19, 2021. Though we will have to wait until next year to physically go to the festival, there is still hope for those who were waiting for Sónar+D, the annual International congress that gathers in Barcelona "leading artists, creative technologists, musicians, filmmakers, designers, thinkers, scientists, entrepreneurs, makers and hackers to participate in a carefully commissioned program with the aim at inspiration and networking": the event goes online and becomes Sónar+D CCCB

Following the example of many festivals all around the world, on September 18-19, 2020 it will take place Sónar+D CCCB, a special edition of the event hosted by Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB), the place where Sónar was born. It will be a fundamentally online event, free to access and open to all, with the possibility of physical attendance depending on how the legislation regarding capacity evolves. The program will not be much different from past editions and it will offer a large selection of conferences, masterclasses, workshops, performances and networking.

For this special occasion, Sónar+D will work next to the local creative communities and many other festivals in the world, such as TodaysArt (The Hague, Holland), Reworks (Thessaloniki, Greece) and Unsound (Krakow, Poland), which will take place in their respective cities on the same dates, and who share a creative platform with us in the ongoing We Are Europe co-operative project.

Founded in 1994 in Barcelona, Sónar is one of the biggest institutions in Europe for experimental and electronic music. In the past few years, thanks to its ancillary events hosted in many cities around the world as IstanbulBogota, Hong KongReykjavik and Buenos Aires, many artists have been on its stage: Björk, Thom Yorke, Duran Duran, Grace Jones, Beastie Boys, Gorillaz, Diplo, M.I.A. and even Skrillex

The 27th edition of Sónar Barcelona and the 9th Sónar+D congress will take place on June 17-18-19, 2021. The good news is that every owner of the tickets for this years' events could choose to ask for a refund or to convert their tickets into various benefits for next year.
