It looks like the origami of a bird, a spaceship or an eccentric modern sculpture. However, it's actually a house, the only private residence designed by the archistar Zaha Hadid for the businessman Vladislav Doronin, manager of the real estate companies Capital Hill Group, OKO Group and owner of the luxury hotel and resort brand Aman, also known for having been for some years the boyfriend of Naomi Campbell. This is how the man remembers his meeting with Hadid:

"I told her: “I want to wake up in the morning and I want to just see blue sky. I don't want to see any neighbors and I want to feel free”. She told me: “Do you realize you have to be above the trees?” and she just took a napkin and drew the sketch."

Ten years after that first drawing, the result is Capital Hill Residence, a structure in the pine forest of Barvikha, a city not far from Moscow Ring Road, characterized by a master suite located 22 meters above the ground on top of a slender concrete stalk that raises it high above the treetops. The chosen solution not only provides complete isolation, but also a wonderful panoramic view amplified by the glass walls that run both along two balconies and along the main column of the suite, which houses a glass lift and a staircase. This sort of periscope is anchored to a volume divided into three floors partially embedded in the sloping ground below and are made peculiar by large roofs with asymmetrical stepped edges that protrude from the glass walls of each floor. The interior of the three lower levels has the following layout: from the main entrance on the first floor there is access to the foyer, library, guest and children's rooms, and then down to the ground floor, where the main living area, dining room, kitchen and swimming pool are located, and to the basement.

Vladimir Doronin described Hadid's work as "a perfectly living sculpture", while Norman Foster, former business partner of the archistar and, after the woman's death, head of her architectural studio, went further and praised Capital Hill Residence:

"This is a masterpiece. It has Zaha's signature features of organic intricacy, complexity of spatial arrangement, a lot of surprises, and a lot of craftiness and beauty."
