5 new movies to watch on Netflix this weekend From the latest post-apocalyptic horror movie to the best film of 2019

What to do in the long term holiday that is about to begin? We can eat, sleep, chat with friends and family or relax in front of a Netflix movie. nss suggests you 5 titles just landed on the streaming platform: from the odd story of unicorns lover to the latest post-apocalyptic horror that wants to break the Bird Box records.

Unicorn Store

Brie Larson, best known for the TV series The OA and the blockbuster Captain Marvel, makes her directorial debut with a small independent film in which she plays a girl passionate about art and unicorns forced to do a monotonous job to survive. Her life changes when she met an eccentric salesman. Unicorn Store is a strange project that has received mixed reviews, but is full of dreams, hopes, glitters and unicorns. All essential ingredients for the perfect Easter of every millennial.

The Silence

In an attempt to repeat the success of Bird Box, Netflix produces an adaptation of Tim Lebbon's novel The Silence released in 2015. The plot? The world is attacked by terrible creatures similar to pterosaurs who hunt human beings. A deaf and dumb teenager and her family struggle to survive and seek refuge in an isolated place, but end up encountering a creepy sect. The cast includes Stanley Tucci and young Kiernan Shipka aka the protagonist of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, who arrived in April with new episodes on Netflix. The film reminded many people of A Quiet Place directed by John Krasinski.

Highwaymen

For its latest original film, Netflix recalls the most legendary criminal couple ever: Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. This time, however, the view changes and instead of the two lovers, the story follows the policemen who tried to arrest them. Frank Hamer and Maney Gault, played respectively by Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson (once again he’s a policeman as in the first beautiful season of True Detective), bring us with them across the United States during the 30s to hunt for Bonnie and Clyde, while the number of corpses increases and the time of the final fight is coming closer and closer. An old-fashioned project that resembles more a western than a gangster movie.

Lo spietato

After a brief debut at the cinema, Riccardo Scamarcio's new project in which the actor plays the gangster and yuppie Santo Russo arrives in streaming. The film follows the epic of his career in Milan in the 80s, from the first robberies to the summit of a feared gang. In between: robberies, kidnappings, drug trafficking, money laundering, murders and beautiful women. The new Netflix production is based on Manager calibro 9, the book by Pietro Colaprico and Luca Fazzo that tells the story of the former member of the Calabrian 'ndrangheta Saverio Morabito. Car enthusiasts will notice the yellow Lamborghini Diablo and the red Ferrari 308 GTB driven by Scamarcio in some scenes.

Triple Frontier

Five leading actors Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund, Pedro Pascal and Ben Affleck play a group of former members of the special forces who rob a drug trafficker, triggering a series of unexpected consequences. Including an escape into the Colombian jungle and doubts about mutual loyalty. Someone has already called it "the best film of 2019".
