Z9 Resort: an eco-friendly paradise in Thailand Sunrise and Sunset

Reuse, reduce and recycle.

These are the three principles that the Dersyn Studio, group of architects based in Bangkok, followed to create the Z9 Resort, a floating tourist complex perched on the Srinakarin dam in Kanchanaburi, Thailand. This is a series of corrugated, private ground and rubber dinghies, occupying an area of 3,100 square meters and, in shapes and colors, blend with nature and the landscape of the lake and the mountains.

Each building uses natural ventilation and adopts a sustainable design concept. For example, the steel structure is perfectly eco-friendly and guarantees a faster and cleaner construction than concrete; the OSB panel used as a ceiling was created by compressing layers of wood chips, used as decoration by the resort before the current restoration; while other rather large pieces of wood have been adapted for furniture. However, the Z9 Resort is not just an eco-friendly paradise, but a place to relax and get lost in nature.
