Solidarity demonstrations for Palestine at the Cannes Film Festival Stop the Attack on Gaza

No one can remain indifferent to such events, not even the Cannes Croisette.

Dozens of people, including the jury of the "Un Certain Regard" section with its president Benicio Del Toro, have gathered next to the Palestine pavilion, to show its first presence at the Film Institute during the French Festival, as a sign of solidarity to the battered population and against Israel's violence and raids in Gaza.

Director Annemarie Jacir led a demonstration and addressed herself to the crowd: “Today, we stand here in solidarity with the people who have lost their lives and loved ones,” she said. “I want everyone to hold hands and show that we have a human connection with each other and resist being dehumanized and silenced.”

On the red carpet to the premiere of "Solo: A Star Wars Story" also the Lebanese actress Manal Issa showed her solidarity, showing a sign that read "Stop The Attack on Gaza".

Not only did the world of cinema make its indignation felt for the terrible events in Gaza, but also the Hadid sisters. On Twitter, Gigi wrote: "I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. For me, this is not about religion or one against the other. It’s about the greed".

On Instagram, following the decision of US President Donald Trump to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, she posted: "The TREATMENT of the Palestinian people is unfair, one-sided and should not be tolerated. I stand with Palestine.”
