Kanye West is writing a philosophy book

“Break the Simulation”: The future is here.

Kanye West is writing a philosophy book “Break the Simulation”: The future is here.

Rapper, stylist, influencer, star, producer, "spokesman of his generation", father, husband of Kim Kardashian.

Kanye West is an eclectic man, endowed with different talents and interests, but, from today, another long list is added: philosopher.

Ok. Many of his fans have long since taken his sentences and dissertations on life and art as mantras, pseudo-precepts to be followed with devotion, but, soon, they can hold in their hands and consult the "Bible" according to Kanye or better his version 2.0 of Platone's Myth of the Cave.

The surreal revelation comes during an interview with interior designer Axel Vervoordt for Hollywood Reporter: Yeezy's designer is writing a philosophy book.

Almost by chance, while discussing with the Belgian collector, he said:

"I've got this new concept that I've been diggin' into. I'm writing a philosophy book right now called Break the Simulation. And I've got this philosophy — or let's say it's just a concept because sometimes philosophy sounds too heavy-handed. I've got a concept about photographs, and I'm on the fence about photographs — about human beings being obsessed with photographs — because it takes you out of the now and transports you into the past or transports you into the future. It can be used to document, but a lot of times it overtakes [people]. People dwell too much in the memories. People always wanna hear the history of something, which is important, but I think it there's too much of an importance put on history”.

In short, the text will speak of the world's obsession with photography and the time people waste on social media.

The thing sounds a bit 'strange if you think of Kim, defined by him as "Marie Antoinette of our time", and his mania for selfies (remember "Selfish", the collection of all the selfie that the celebrity has taken in the course Some years?).

These are not the only pearls of wisdom distributed by Kanye, that regarding the appointment of Virgil Abloh to creative director of Louis Vuitton reveals:

"[Abloh and I]  have been fighting to make apparel at a certain price that still has the same credibility and desirability as something at a higher price… But when they say he was my creative director, that's incorrect. He was a creative collaborator”.

And on Yeezy and his contribution to the world adds:

"We do these sneakers that sell out [...] And I don't wish to be number one anymore, I wish to be water. I wish to be closer to UNICEF or something where I can take the information that I have and help as many people as possible".

Kanye West is the new Plato?
