Grammy Awards 2018: best moments

Grammy Awards 2018: best moments From the exciting performances by Kendrick Lamar and Kesha to red carper full of elegant star

Last night James Corden conducted the 60th Grammy Awards live from the Madison Square Garden in New York.

King of the event was Bruno Mars with 6 awards won, including best album and best song, while the coolest couple Beyoncé & Jay-Z returned home disappointed, without any gramophone despite his many nominations.

Many exciting performances: from the opening act of Lamar with the U2 to Elton John and Miley Cyrus together for "Tiny dancer", from Kesha and her ladies in all white to the homage country to the victims of the Las Vegas massacre.

There are also moments of support for the #MeToo and Timesup movements, symbolized by the white roses shown by the stars, or the references to Trump with the fake auditions of Cher and Hillary Clinton.

Here's what happened.

Kendrick Lamar's opening performance

"America, God bless you if it's good to you."

Kendrick Lamar, standing in front of an American flag among a group of dancers dressed as soldiers, opened the 60th edition of the Grammy Awards.

The rapper sang his song XXX along with Bono and The Edge of U2, interspersed with some comments by the African American comedian Dave Chappelle.

Then a series of gunshots and, one at a time, the dancers fall to the ground and the music ends.

A suggestive performance that touches politics, police brutality and criticism of American patriotism.

The moving Kesha

"We come in peace, but we are serious. And to all those who want to shut up we have only two words to say: "Time's Up"".

Kesha, who is conducting a legal battle against producer Dr Luke for harassment, gets on the Grammy stage and dedicates her performance to women victims of violence.

The star sings Praying accompanied by a series of exceptional singers, all dressed in white, including Cyndi Lauper, Camilla Cabello, Andra Day and the atmosphere around it becomes moving.

"#TimesUp", "#Metoo" & white roses

During the evening many stars, from Lady Gaga to Rita Ora, showed off white roses as a sign of solidarity to the movements against sexual harassment and gender inequality #Metoo and #Timesup, but also to remember that we must aim for change.

The idea of the roses is by Meg Harkins and Karen Rait of Interscope/Geffen /A&M Records who created a "Voices in Entertainment" movement.

The choice of a white flower is synonymous with hope, peace, sympathy and endurance, but also has historical origins: it is the color worn by the suffragettes 100 years ago, when women protested to have the right to vote.

During the show, it is the women artists who stress the importance of this "awakening to the fight", from Kesha to Lo Lady Gaga, wrapped in a beautiful white dress, which on the piano shouts "Time's up" to Janelle Monae, who explains that "We work together, men and women, to get equal pay and equal opportunities without gender differences".

Fire and Fury

An audition for an audiobook based on the editorial hit Fire and Fury, Michael Wolff's best seller on Donald Trump.

One after another, they read some pages Cher, Snoop Dogg, Cardi B, DJ Khaled and even Hillary Clinton.

And the winner is ...

Kendrick Lamar won (alone and with Rihanna) 5 Grammies, but the real king of the evening is Bruno Mars with 6 Grammys, among which the most important, the album of the year for 24K magic and best song for That's What I Like.

In the pop category Ed Sheeran won the best Pop Vocal Albums, with Divide and best pop performance, with Shape Of You. The Foo Fighters won for the best rock song, with "Run".

The only woman awarded in the evening was Alessia Cara, best artist debutant, while Jay-Z, who dominated the nominations in 8 categories, came home empty-handed.

Best looks

The star that has conquered all with her outfit is Lady Gaga in a spectacular black creation of lace signed Armani Privè, with a very long train, while the coolest couple is the one formed by Jay-Z and Beyoncé in a dress by Nicolas Jebran inspired by Black Panther movement.

Among our favorites: Lana Del Rey in a pale pink piece by Gucci, Miley Cyrus with a jumpsuit made by Jean Paul Gaultier, Janelle Monae with a floral tuxedo by Dolce & Gabbana.
