Kenzo Folio is the new quarterly magazine by Kenzo Carol Lim and Humberto Leon strike again

Kenzo presents Kenzo Folio.

The fashion house led by Carol Lim and Humberto Leon enters the world of publishing with a quarterly editorial plan aimed to show the brand's collections through the eyes of young creatives in a new and unexpected way.

The first issue, titled Gidi gidi bu ugwu eze (Unity is strength) is dedicated to the traditions and the indigenous culture of the Igbo community in Nsukka, southeastern Nigeria. Inaugurating the first edition of Kenzo Folio, the same creative team behind their last advertising campaign for SS17: the stylist Ibrahim Kamara, the photographer Ruth Ossai and the filmmaker Akinola Davies Jr.

 

The colorful and fascinating images capture the energy, the style, and the approach to the beauty of the Nigerian people as pointed out by Davies:

"It's about celebrating young Black Nigerian bodies and capturing them celebrating Igbo culture and traditions, showing that beauty is always present when there is a commitment to the celebration of culture".

Kenzo Folio #1 will be released on April 20 in European stores of the French brand, as well as in the Antenna Books partner stores while will appear online on April 27, accompanied by a video about the project.

That same day Kenzo will host a series of pop-up exhibitions with Ruth Ossai images to celebrate the new zine: one in Paris, at 27 Boulevard de la Madeleine and in London on Bruton Street in Mayfair.
