Recently we have seen many of the big brands hold contests and vote to let them, the undisputed stars of the sport who populate the terraces every Sunday, choose the jersey in which the team of their heart will take the field. The first in order of time this year was Borussia with PUMA, then Fiorentina and Red Star FC with Kappa and finally also Santos with Umbro, before the clubs, Nike led the way with the jersey of the Slovenian national team. Of the 11 designs, in the end it was the design with Triglav that won with 40% of the votes, the highest mountain in Slovenia, which has already been seen in the past on national team shirts. The graphics of the mountain, which will characterise the new national team jerseys, will be applied on both the first strictly white jersey and the away jersey in blue.

The decision to let the fans vote on the jersey is certainly no accident, a way to unleash creativity from below, with fans and enthusiasts for once having the chance to get involved alongside the big brands, bringing a breath of fresh air to what may become standard templates over time. In fact, Slovenia's jerseys have never particularly shone for their designs, Nike has always relegated standard and poorly customised templates to the Central European selection. This contest is an opportunity to rejuvenate the identity and aesthetics of a national team that failed to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar and needs a fresh start both on and off the pitch.
