CRLN is an Italian singer-songwriter from San Benedetto del Tronto, currently based in Rome. She is 23 and is the new female voice of Macro Beats, record label with which she has just released her first EP – Caroline – made with the support of producer Gheesa, multi-instrumentalists Ulisse Minati and Mirko Onofrio (Brunori SAS), bassist Roberto Dragonetti (Ghemon) and the golden boy of Italian electronic music Yakamoto Kotzuga.

In June, she will present her work with a live in Milan (June 17, in Santeria) and two in Rome (on June 18 at Monk and June 19 at Suede Store), but this is just the beginning.

We met her to learn more about her and her future projects.

#1 Who is CRLN?

I am a girl who loves music and is lucky enough to be able to express her feelings through it.

#2 The promotion of your new EP will start with a showcase at Santeria, on June 17. What do you like about Milan?

First of all Milan for me is the "home" of my label, Macro Beats. Every time I find myself in Milan I realise that things work well there. I live in Rome, it is a beautiful capital but kept bad and disorganised, in fact I always go crazy there (laughs). Milan is beautiful, and I think people live very well there.

#3 The last track of 'Caroline' is titled 'East Berlin'. What is your relationship with this city?

I visited Berlin a few years ago, but the only relationship it has with the song is the idea of a cold and intimate war, a conflict without weapons and without bangs. In the song I am talking of an inner struggle between what I am and all that I could and should be.

#4 Is there a place that is particularly dear to you where you would like to present your EP?

There’s a place where I'd like to perform, not necessarily to present my EP. It’s Locomotiv in Bologna, I have a strong emotional bond with that place. I saw my first concert there, I cried there for my first love. It would be nice to be back and show myself that everything is okay, that I’m now stronger than before.

#5 Your projects for the Summer?

My only real plan for the Summer is to write my first official album. Meanwhile, I will perform in some live show to present my EP!
