Virgil Abloh's Quarantine Playlist

Featuring Miles Davis and Tom Misch

Virgil Abloh's Quarantine Playlist Featuring Miles Davis and Tom Misch

Among the thousand outlets of Virgil Abloh's creativity, music is one of the main ones. Before becoming the founder of Off-White™ and creative director of Louis Vuitton, before his collaborations with IKEA and Nigo, Abloh was a DJ. It was therefore natural that to accompany his quarantine, the eclectic Chicago creative composed a playlist of retro goodies that he decided to share on Spotify with Vogue and all his fans.

The playlist consists of 17 songs. It opens with one of the most iconic jazz songs of all time: the Générique theme composed by Miles Davis for the soundtrack of the noir Elevator for the Gallows by French director Louis Malle. The list of songs continues between songs with a vintage flavour by John Carroll Kirby and Brazilian Arthur Verocai and with other more modern 4hero and Jay Electronica up to composer Tom Misch. They lack, as is understandable for a playlist that should be the background to home relaxation or smart working, the most aggressive tracks of the modern trap – but Abloh takes this opportunity to explore sounds far from those of mainstream music.
