The Fondazione Prada club night in review Plus watch our exclusive interview with Craig Richards

Fondazione Prada is known for being a multidisciplinary institution that likes to freely move between fashion, art, film, and music, never to be pigeonholed in its projects within each. Their run of music events curated by the legendary DJ and artist Craig Richards is no exception. A series of three events that have taken place over the spring and summer, the first featuring Riccardo Villalobos and Craig Richards DJ’ing the whole night. Then the focus shifted towards more live music, with Richards, E/Tape, Mulatu Astatke, Midori Takada and Nicolas Lutz, playing the second night, and on last Friday the series was concluded with a night of eclectic electronic music, with Monolake, Burnt Friedman, Joy Orbison, Baby Vulture, and Richards himself all playing sets under the open Milan night sky.

Far from being a standard club night, the event flowed much more into the territories of an art event, with a focus on the audience experiencing something beyond simply being invoked to dance. As one would expect from anything involving Prada, the sound and light systems were top class and a quality of sound was presented that is rarely experienced in Milan’s clubland. The sold-out night plus impressions given from Fondazione Prada is that this is just the start of more specialized music events to be held at Fondazione Prada, which after the success of these concept nights, we’re very much looking forward to.

We had the exclusive chance to sit down and talk to Craig Richards himself, to hear in his own words about the nights and the ideas behind.
