Davide Vavalà presents his first solo exhibition in Milan “In-betweenness: aesthetics of the unfinished” arrives at Fabbrica del Vapore

At the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan, inside the Sala delle Colonne, the artist and content creator Davide Vavalà presents on 11 and 12 April 2026 his first solo exhibition, In-betweenness: aesthetics of the unfinished. The project, produced and curated by Dontcallmestudio, marks an important moment in the artist’s journey, bringing his visual imagination into one of the most symbolic contexts of contemporary cultural production in Milan. The exhibition is conceived as an immersive experience and a non-linear environment, in dialogue with the architecture of the space.

The concept revolves around the notion of “the unfinished” as an existential and creative condition. In opposition to the logic of performance, definition, and final result, Vavalà constructs a suspended space in which incompleteness is not a lack, but a generative force. Over time, the young artist has developed a recognisable visual language, characterised by intense colours, sharp signs, layered compositions, and the recurring presence of “Saint”, his symbolic alter ego: a figure embodying the possibility of bringing light and meaning even into the most fragile areas of contemporary experience.

His journey, born from a deep expressive urgency, has evolved into a shared imagination capable of speaking directly to his generation. The idea of in-betweenness thus becomes a threshold zone: an unstable territory between what one is and what one is becoming, shared both by the individual and by the artistic process itself.

Within this perspective, the artist’s studio also takes on a central role as a physical and mental space of the unfinished. The works and installation interventions, ranging from painting to spatial elements and visual devices, build a porous environment in which process and completion remain in constant tension. The exhibition path invites the visitor to a free exploration, offering an open narrative that reflects the fragmentation and complexity of contemporary identity.
