No doubts. It’s been the TV series of the Summer. Stranger Things, with its mix of science fiction and ‘80s references, has captivated audiences worldwide.

The series produced by Netflix, after a triumphant first season, announced its return with the second chapter in 2017, unleashing a shower of rumours and hypothesis.

And many unanswered questions for the moment. Why did Hooper get in that car? What Will vomited in the bathroom of his house? The monster is dead, was there just one? What else could be out there? What's in the other dimension? What happened to Eleven?

Everything we know for sure up to now is below:

 

#1 Stranger Things 2 will take place in autumn 1984, a year after the first season. In order to follow the growth of the characters, all under 14, struggling with the physical changes of puberty, but also because 1984 was an amazing year, especially the movies that came out in that summer.

 

#2 More than a second season, a sequel. If the initial inspirations were the works of Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter, and Stephen King, the next part will be a tribute to James Cameron, but mostly ‘80s sequels: Terminator 2, The Empire Strikes Back, Aliens and Indiana Jones and the temple of Doom. This is why the decision to name it Stranger Things 2 instead of simply keeping Stranger Things.

 

#3 New episodes and new titles. The filming hasn’t officially started yet, but a video released by Netflix on August 31 featured 9 titles on a black background with the soundtrack of the series.

#4 Who will return. There will certainly be Winona Ryder (Joyce), Noah Schnapp (Will), Finn Wolhard (Mike), Gaten Matazarro (Dustin), David Harbour (Hopper), while the presence of Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) is still a mystery. It's certain, however, that in the new season there will not be Barb, Nancy's friend killed by "Demogorgon", but don’t panic: Shannon Purser, the actress who plays her, still works as a shop assistant in a cinema and has entered the cast of a new US channel CW television series entitled Riverdale.

 

#5 New characters. It seems that part of Stranger Things 2 will be set in a different city from Hawkins, set of the first season, and, according to Hollywood Reporter, the production is looking for actors for three new roles: Max and Billy, a brother and sister, and a character named Roman. The first is a 13-year-old who acts like a tomboy, while her brother is 17-year-old and is a rebellious drinking and driving a Camaro. The third new entry is in his thirties, he grew up homeless with a drug-addicted mother, who suffered a big loss at an early age and is looking for revenge ever since.
