Takashi Murakami is for sure one of the most emblematic exponent of the Japanese culture in the world.

Born in Tokyo in 1962, he studies at the Academy of Fine Arts of the city and shows immediately a particular fascination for the world of manga and animation. In 1989 debuts with his first personale exhibition in Tokyo, but his art is destined to spread all over the world. In 1994 he wins a scholarship for the MoMA in New York: it’s the right occasion to move to the States and get in touch with artists of his same level. From this moment his name obtains growing consideration among the art insiders and today his work counts a millionaire business.

His fame and his iconic style made him establish a lot of collaborations with famous brands, in particular with the fashion system.

In 2003, at the times when Marc Jacobs was still the boss at Louis Vuitton, Murakami was called to give out his creativity on the monogram bags of the French brand. It was an international success.

On the occasion of the summer solstice of 2011, Google's homepage was decorated by two doodles created by the artist especially for the event.

At the 2009 edition of Art Basel in Switzerland the artist collaborated with singer Pharrell Williams giving birth to "The Simple Things", an installation with surreal atmospheres. The piece was sold in less than an hour.
