1.Define your aesthetic vision

To bring beautiful pictures to life through the creation of high end fashionable swimwear.

 

2.Your first fashion memory

I remember watching my mum as she sat on our balcony, crocheting gold bikini’s at our house on the sunshine coast.

I think I was probably about 4 or 5.

 

3.Your proudest life achievement

Creating We Are Handsome of course but second to that, was marrying my beautiful husband last year.

 

4.Something you'd like to be different

For the Australian Textiles and Clothing industry to see that if we don’t support and help build production houses in Australia, all fashion labels will be produced off shore.

We’re very proud to be 100% Australian.

 

5.Tell us about your last collection

‘The Vintage’, told a story of European Summer vacations, adventures in the in far away lands and creatures of wonder, each with their own unique and antique story.

 

6.Your best product or collection

Each time we create a collection, we’re certain that it’s the best.

Each season we exceed our own expectations.

In saying that, our classic scoop one piece instigated the return of the one piece all over the world.

By fusing art and fashion, it has become a year round wearable item.

 

7.Who do you design for?

We Are Handsome has such a range of obsessed followers and we try to create images and silhouettes that resonate with most women.

Celebrities such as Clemence Poesy and Blake Lively were personal muses for The Matriarch.

Soft femininity with strength and poise, so beautiful.

 

8.Where do you catch your inspiration from?

Most of our inspiration comes from within.

Our memories, imaginations and dreams all spill out into our ranges.

This is how we conceptualize and create each piece.  

 

9.Where can people find your products?

Everywhere from Iceland to Dubai and Athens to Tasmania.

Check out our site for stockists but we also have our own e-boutique.

 

10.Your muse/style icon

Poppy Delevingne, Kate Moss, Taylor Tomasi Hill.

 

11.Your color palette

Neutrals, navy, khaki, black and white but you’ll always find a splash of colour somewhere.

 

12.Your material palette

Cottons and soft viscose, anything cool and casual.

 

13.The trend of the season you like most

I’m loving the cheeky see through visors popping up on the catwalks and in collections.

I also love that designers are mixing patterns within collections now rather than just running with one or two.

It’s painting a beautiful picture for summer this year.

 

14.Plain or pattern?

Pattern.

Colour!

Fashionable.blogspot: every possible fashion cover and editorial, so inspirational.

I love Diane Von Furstenberg’s most recent collection: tailored and colorful.

21.Why do you think the fashion industry needs you?

Because we push the boundaries and hopefully inspire others to do the same.

We’re part of a new generation of designers using digital print as their medium and besides, we add plenty of colour to the world.

 

22.How the web development and digital resources help your work?

Digital printing is how we are able to achieve such incredible coloured imagery.

It’s the photographic like prints which really entice people.

We are also a very digital based company using all sorts of web based media.

It was in fact a viral campaign that shot our first collection to such success.
