Carhartt WIP's new collaboration with Toogood

And a new installation in Spazio Maiocchi

Carhartt WIP's new collaboration with Toogood And a new installation in Spazio Maiocchi

Carhartt WIP's new collaboration with Toogood takes the archetypal Carhartt WIP shapes and enriches them with sculptural volumes. The unisex capsule collection - which includes two jackets, a shirt, trousers, a tracksuit and a t-shirt - combines distinctive elements of both brands, through the juxtaposition of iconic models, such as Carhartt WIP's Michigan Jacket and Toogood's Photographer Jacket, indicating the fusion of utilitarian aesthetics shared by the two brands.

The garments are made from Carhartt WIP's trademark Dearborn Canvas organic cotton and lighter Utah Canvas, and are finished with jointly branded labels and buttons. The colour palette is concise, consisting of off-white, black and Hamilton Brown, and emphasises the sense of everyday uniformity that underpins the collection. To demonstrate the intervention in classic Carhartt WIP designs, Toogood created a series of one-off pieces, described as 'hacks'. By cutting and stitching the original pieces with a contrasting coloured fabric, the added cut lines, volume and length are laid bare. These 'hacks' have been documented and will be exhibited in conjunction with the launch of the collection, along with three giant sculptural puppets wearing oversized versions of the collaboration garments. The installation will be on display at Spazio Maiocchi from 6 to 12 June during the Salone del Mobile.

Toogood x Carhartt WIP will be launched online at t-o-o-g-o-o-d.com and carhartt-wip.com on 7 June and in select Carhartt WIP shops. The collection will also be sold at selected retailers worldwide, including Mr Porter, Selfridges and Dover Street Market in London, Ginza and Singapore.
