3 fashion film festivals to keep an eye on in 2021 We are in the age of fashion film

Since the lockdown and the impossibility of travel have created an insurmountable obstacle for the organization of physical shows, the fashion industry has had to resort in increasingly massive doses to the neo-genre of fashion film to present its collections. Practically all the fashion brands we know have therefore put their creativity to work, exploring the many different facets of the most versatile narrative medium in human history: cinema. The result was a dizzying surge in fashion films that also gave a new boost to the fashion film festival circuit both in Europe and abroad.

Exploring the programming of these festivals, therefore, means exploring one of the latest media avant-gardes of fashion, and that's why we have listed below 3 fashion film festivals to keep an eye on in 2021.

Canadian Fashion Film Festival

This year's edition of CANIFFF (the official acronym for the festival) will have as its theme the concept of community, which will be explored through a wide list of fashion videos competing through 18 categories. While it will be difficult for the usual awards ceremony to be held in Toronto, the festival film will have a three-day space within the September schedule of the upcoming Venice Film Festival.

All information is available on the event's official website.

London Fashion Film Festival

Now in its eighth edition, the London Fashion Film Festival will once again this year present its eclectic melange of films created by fashion brands, emerging talents, students and creatives. There will be 25 award categories, with two new awards dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community. The award ceremony will take place (hopefully physically) next September.

All information is available on the event's official website.

Croatia Fashion Film Festival

This European festival brings particular attention to the symbiosis between fashion and cinema by presenting a fairly varied selection of fashion films, advertising films, music videos and short films. There are 13 award categories in the competition and will be framed by panel talks with the protagonists of the sector.

All information is available on the event's official website.
