Amazon's new bespoke T-shirts to customize online

Amazon's new bespoke T-shirts to customize online Measurements will be taken through rendering of the customer's body

In an effort to take digital fashion one step further in the digital fashion sphere, Amazon has launched the new Made for You service that will allow customers to pack a one-tone tailored T-shirt for just €25. Customers will be able to determine everything about the t-shirt: fabric, colour, length, fit, label, neck and sleeve sizes. They will then have to provide their own body measurements and two photos of themselves from which a program will extrapolate a physical rendering for custom fitting of garments. In addition, just like in The Sims, t-shirt feature changes will appear in real-time on the rendering on which you can zoom in and turn around by 360°, allowing the customer to experiment with different solutions before choosing their favourite.

This is not the first time Amazon has tried to launch a project in the field of digital fashion. The first digital try-on for make-up dates back to June 2019. The difference in this case, beyond the final product, is that Amazon will be able to collect big data on its customers' body types – a wealth of information that could prove very useful for that rapidly expanding world that is that of digital dressing rooms, online customizations and augmented reality. One stumbling block will be that of privacy: Amazon has already stated that customers' personal photos will be deleted immediately, their data will instead remain and be stored safely.
