After years of legal battles over the boxlogo, Supreme has finally obtained the registration of its trademark in Europe. As reported by Pambianconews, the official registration of the trademark at the Office of the European Union for Intellectual Property arrived last August 27th and was definitively confirmed in October. The patent gives the New York brand exclusive rights to its trademark at European level, but nevertheless it is a non-binding verdict against the national courts for the protection of intellectual property.

Translated from Legalese jargon, the judgment represents a directive for the Member States but nevertheless it is not superior to national legislation: precisely because of this lack of legislative harmony, the sensational cases of Legal Fake have been created with Supreme Italia first and then Supreme Spain, or even Supreme Italfigo

After years of refusals (between 2017 and 2018 they collected as many as three), the registration took place in the same months that the acquisition of the brand by VF Corp for two billion dollars ended. Supreme's battle against legal fake began in 2017 moving from Italy to Spain and finally to China, where the Samsung case broke out: when the tech brand announced and then withdrew the partnership with Supreme Italia.

Today it is not clear the situation of IBF - the company that controls Supreme Spain - but after the closure of stores in China and the imminent planned expansion by Supreme in Europe (with Milan in the lead) the story seems to be heading towards its conclusion.
