Ski inspiration and streetwear soul in the new The North Face's Steep Tech collection The reiteration of one of the first collections made with an athlete

Among the brands that have written (and continue to do so) the history of gorpcore, making it the trend we know today, The North Face certainly takes up a prominent position. The leading brand in the outdoor and outerwear clothing, the label founded in 1966 combines technical fabrics, technological innovations and an irreplaceable focus on performance with a distinct fashion vocation.

The brand unveils now the new Steep Tech collection, a new reiteration of the eponymous capsule created in 1991 with the legend of big mountain skiing Scot Schmidt, one of the first lines created in collaboration with an athlete. A member of the Extreme Team, star of Warren Miller's film, Schmidt has become a true icon thanks to his fluid skiing technique, leading Steep Tech to conquer the spotlight. Equipped with all the functional and performance features necessary to support athletes at the highest possible level, the collection marked a real turning point, thanks to its components ahead of the time.

Just as Scot has redefined the world of skiing with his style, the Steep Tech collection has redesigned urban clothing in a technical key, evolving from its natural environment, that of the mountains, to become an industry staple. 2020 marks the return of this collection, in which items such as the Steep Tech Apogee jacket and the unisex long-sleeved shirt stand out. The items come to life through the bold colour variations typical of the history of high mountain clothing, adapted for the streetwear scene.

The North Face Steep Tech collection will be available from October 24 online and at selected retailers.
