The Alien-Futurism of Daily Paper

A new editorial for the SS20 collection

The Alien-Futurism of Daily Paper A new editorial for the SS20 collection

After exploring the multiculturalism in Berlin for the SS20 season and celebrating the end of Ramadan together with the girls from Muslim Sisterhood, Daily Paper reinterprets its SS20 collection in a new editorial: Alien Luv. Shot by photographer Lois Cohen and styled by Indiana Roma Voss, the editorial portrays the society of the future and how it could look like, as a new world inhabited by aliens and increasingly different life forms. An invitation to reflect on the identity of each of us, in view of increasingly multiple and universal worlds.

The pictures examine the subjective nature of beauty, a concept that changes over time and cultures. Through the celebration of universal themes such as family, love and community, the campaign invites to reflect on concepts such as identity and diversity and is accompanied by a short film by director Folkert Verdoorn, who explores the broader changes in social norms as alien species integrate with humans, becoming a commentary on our vision of race and culture. The viewer is left with the freedom to decide whether, as human beings, we can allow our past mistakes to define ourselves or if we can move our consciousness, love each other and create a better future for all.

It is not the first time that Daily Paper fantasizes about fashion and the society of the future: early this year, it released an Afro-futuristic campaign in which it reinterpreted the future while looking at the cultural heritage of the past.

Daily Paper SS20 collection is already available online on the brand's official website and at selected retailers.
