Nike and Converse new capsule collections for Pride Month

On the occasion of the upcoming Pride Month, whose parades and celebrations have been cancelled this year due to the pandemic, Nike and Converse have revealed the new BeTrue and Pride sneaker collections whose face is the American activist Amber Hikes. In addition to the two capsules, the two brands have also launched charitable initiatives for LGBTQIA+ community rights organizations. Nike has made donations to about 20 local and national authorities whose action takes place in the athletic world, while Converse's Pride initiative, now in its fifth year, has reached the figure of one million dollars in donations.
The visual theme that binds both collections is the ten-colour "More Color, More Pride" flag designed by Amber Hikes in 2017, which is applied to six historical silhouettes of both brands creating a line-up that ideally sums up all their eras and styles. The silhouettes are the Air Force 1, the Air Max 2090, the ACG Air Deschutz sandal, the Chuck 70 Hi, the Chuck 70 Ox and the classic Chuck Taylor. Converse's collection also includes a capsule of apparel. Highlights from the collection include the first Pride-themed version of the Air Force 1 with iridescent zigzag hems along with the Swoosh, the Air Max 2090 with a multicoloured upper and asymmetrical details, and the chuck Taylor All Star versions decorated with sequin.
Converse's Pride collection will be available on the brand's official website starting May 29, while Nike's BeTrue collection will go on sale on the Nike web store starting June 19.
