Nike relaunches the Air Deschutz sandal

The popular 90's cross-training silhouette makes its comeback

Nike relaunches the Air Deschutz sandal The popular 90's cross-training silhouette makes its comeback

Next week will mark the return of one of Nike's most beloved and debated silhouettes, the Air Deschutz.
The shoe, originally introduced in 1992 as part of Nike's ACG line, was one of the first examples of "cross-training sandal" because of its unique design, a hybrid that combined form and function. Designed to challenge wide open spaces and hiking, the item was also perfect for walking around university campuses or staying at home.

Now, just in time for the hot season, Nike is bringing back the Air Deschutz in its OG version. The sandal features a wavy pattern that encompasses its entire footbed, as well as a plastic ankle component that houses the ACG emblem. On the cross-over foot straps, you’ll find a Nike mini-swoosh logo, while on the rear strap Nike adds its signature "Nike Air" stamp. The lower part of the sole recalls the colours of the upper and is completed by the words "Air Deschutz".

Even the palette recalls the typical colours of the '90s ACG line. The sandals will be made in triple black, blue on black, lime green on black with pink hints and in retroversion with a black base and details in turquoise, purple, yellow and white.

The official launch of the new Air Deshutz is scheduled for May 14th when the sandals will be available online and in selected Nike retailers.
