It was natural that, in the midst of the flood of cancellations that is affecting all the major events of the fashion world due to the coronavirus emergency, interrupting the long tradition of fashion weeks, even the summer edition of Pitti Immagine would be postponed. The appointment, which was supposed to be scheduled for next June, will slip in early September, from 2 to 4. Here are the words of the mayor of Florence Dario Nardella:

I contacted Raffaello Napoleone [CEO of Pitti Image, ed.] and I shared the difficult but common-sense and thoughtful choice to postpone the June edition. The postponement in September represents an extraordinary challenge for the restart of Italian fashion at international level. [...] September may be the time to ignite the spark of a great economic and cultural recovery across the country”.

An edition of Pitti that will have a high symbolic value and will represent the restart of the Italian sartorial world after a crisis that has put a strain on its existence. It remains to be seen whether the new dates set will not prove overly optimistic and whether, in the event of the summer edition actually take place, how the development of the health crisis in Europe and around the world will affect its development.
